Panda 30th Anniversary “Beach Cleaning & Love for our Planet” Activity

Over its 30-year history, Panda Logistics has consistently demonstrated its support for underprivileged groups and environmental sustainability and its deep love for this beautiful island through concrete action. Over 400 employees and family members answered the call of Panda Chairperson David Wang to participate in the “Beach Cleaning & Love for our Planet” Activity held on October 20, 2019 on occasion of the 30th anniversary of Panda Logistics. This group cleaned up marine debris at Longmen Beach in the Gongliao area to make a contribution to protecting our marine environment through concrete action.

The chairperson reveals that according to international beach cleanup statistics in recent years, disposable tableware and plastic garbage represent the most dangerous kind of marine debris. The pile of discarded plastic bottles collected during cleanup activities has a total height of 8.4 Taipei 101 Towers. This waste is non-biodegradable and puts an insurmountable barrier between humans and marine environments. With the passage of time, plastic products are gradually broken down into small pieces and fragments that end up at the bottom of the food chain. The consumption of human-produced junk food by marine creatures causes serious damage to the biological chain.

Panda Logistics demonstrates concern for marine ecosystems through concrete action and strives to clear garbage before it is broken down into tiny chips that are almost invisible to the naked eye and are hard to collect with the aid of machinery. In the context of this activity, a total of 798 kg of marine debris including PET bottles and caps, straws, polystyrene, beverage cups, plastic bags, and tires was collected. We engage in concrete action to set an example for others to emulate, fulfill our social responsibility, and protect our homeland.
